Next year, 2013, will be the Housing Authority’s 75th anniversary, and we need the help of our residents to plan for it.

A committee of Housing Authority employees has been established to plan activities and special events to celebrate our 75 years of service to the Erie community. Suggestions and recommendations are being solicited from residents and friends.

Send your ideas to the Housing Authority of the City of Erie at 606 Holland, Erie, PA 16501.

The Authority was established by action of Erie City Council on March 13, 1938. All housing authorities in Pennsylvania are organized pursuant to state enabling legislation. Erie was one of 13 housing authorities established in Pennsylvania in 1937 and 1938.

The original United States Housing Act was passed by Congress and signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on September 1, 1937.
