For the past three years, volunteers from the Junior League of Erie have visited the Erie Heights/Pineview YMCA Kids Club to teach children about making healthy food choices.

This year, the one-day event was held in early December, with at least 25 children participating. One goal of the visits is the head-off childhood obesity, which is has become a problem with young children.

Children ages 7-10 participated in the December event.

This year, the volunteers set up three activity centers utilizing game to educate the children on how to make healthy eating choices on a daily basis.

In the last of the three centers, the children learned how to make healthy snacks.
