---Issued December 12, 2008
On February 14, 2008, Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell signed into law Act 3 of 2008, also referred to as the Right-to-Know law. This law, which takes effect January 1, 2009, fundamentally changes the way citizens access public records of their government.
For the first time in Pennsylvania history, citizens no longer have to prove that a record is public and that it should be released. Now, a government agency must presume that a record is public and that it should be released.
You have the right to request access to the Housing Authority of the City of Erie’s (HACE) public records. Request for public records are to be made to the Open Records Officer.
Requests may be submitted in person, by mail, by email, or by facsimile. Requests may be oral or written, and may be made for HACE using the HACE Public Records Request Form. The form is available from the Open-Records Officer at the HACE Administrative Office located at 606 Holland Street, Erie, PA. 16501, or by clicking HERE to view the form and then print it.
Additionally, requests may be made using the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records Uniform Request Form, available HERE.
Regulations, policies and procedures of the Housing Authority of the City of Erie are available from the Open-Records Officer at the HACE Administrative Office located at 606 Holland Street Erie, PA. 16501, or online at www.hace.org by clicking HERE for "policies."
