The Housing Authority of the City of Erie is doing a good job, its residents believe, according to the 2014 Safety and Services Resident Survey prepared by the KeyStone Research Corporation.
Overwhelmingly, residents are satisfied always or most of the time with their management office. Likewise, a large majority of residents are satisfied always or most of the time with the maintenance provided in their neighborhood.
Most residents are also aware of the various support services that are available to residents at both our family and senior sites.
“Finally and most importantly, approximately 87.2 percent of residents at both our family and senior sites would recommend public housing to their family and friends,“ said John E. Horan, the Authority’s executive director.
“Also, our satisfaction levels were higher across the board in just about every category. This is all due to the hard work of the Authority’s staff and the dedication to continuing improvement by our board of commissioners.”
The survey also shows a high perception of safety among HACE residents:
- Eighty-six of respondents who reside in family developments said that they felt safe alone at night in their home always or most of the time.
- Eighty-nine percent said they felt safe walking alone in their neighborhood during the day.
- Eighty-eight percent of senior HACE residents said they felt safe at night in their apartment always or most of the time.
- Ninety two percent said they felt safe alone at night in the common areas of their building. Seventy-two percent said they felt safe alone at night outside in the parking areas of their building.
