The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development  (HUD) recently published a notice providing public housing authorities with guidance about financial literacy tools and resources available to help their residents enhance financial literacy and asset building skills, and to move toward financial independence.

"I think this is something our residents should know about,” said John E. Horan, HACE executive director.

The notice lists a variety of federal resources, listed below,  that provide low income families and individuals with financial education and coaching, building and repairing credit, accessing earned income tax credits, improving access to safe, affordable financial service or investment products, and promoting savings and asset building:
