Seven graduates of the Authority’s Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) programs bought houses in 2017, and Aleasha Smith was one of them.

With nine graduates in all for 2017, and seven of them buying houses, last year was one of the most successful ever for our Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) graduates.  The Authority issued a total of $90,885 in escrow funds to FSS graduates in 2017. Aleasha is shown above making a house her new home with sons Kejohn Reed, 11, at left, and Jaquan Reed, nine.  Smith worked through several obstacles while in the program.  She bettered her credit by paying off all of her outstanding bills.  She worked with the St. Martin Center’s staff in order to do this, and that helped her to purchase her own home. She is the first person in her family to purchase a house and it has been a proud moment for everyone in her family.
